New NHTSA Analysis Shows 2011 Traffic Fatalities Declined by Nearly Two Percent
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released a new analysis indicating that highway deaths fell to 32,367 in 2011, marking the lowest level since 1949 and a 1.9 percent decrease from the previous year. The updated 2011 data announced today show the historic downward trend in recent years continued through last year and represent a 26 percent decline in traffic fatalities overall since 2005. Teen Driver Program In Georgia Gets National Recognition
ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — A Georgia parent-teen driver education program has been selected for inclusion in a national publication highlighting innovative programs helping reduce crashes involving teen drivers. Read the article here.
AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety study finds motor vehicle crashes decreased by 21%
A new study conducted by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety examined changes over time in the numbers and rates of police reported crashes, injuries and deaths, as well as the relationship between driver age and the risks that drivers pose to themselves and to others. See the study here.
